The Best Swimming Pools in Rome

Swimming pools in Rome
Want to take a dip without leaving the city? With Rome’s swimming pools, no problem

Want to go for a swim this summer in Rome? Even if you haven’t picked a hotel with a pool, you’ve still got some options.

One great pool is local favorite Piscina delle Rose. For €16 for the day (cheap for Rome… as you’ll see in a moment), enjoy full access to the Olympic-sized pool, which gets crowded with Romans, and their kids, on hot summer days. As well as being cheap, the siwmming pool has the added benefit of being in the bizarre and off-the-beaten-track, but still convenient, quarter of EUR. To get there, take the metro’s B line to the EUR Palasport stop (just 15 minutes from Termini, less from the Colosseum) and you’re right there.

Another favorite is Via Flaminia’s Belle Arti (€20/day). It’s also outside of the city center, but still easy to get to: just take tram #2 from Piazza Flaminio, near Piazza del Popolo, to the Mancini stop; it’s a 5-minute walk from there.

Don’t want to deal with public transport? It’ll cost you. The closest swimming pool to the center of Rome is at the super-slick Radisson SAS Hotel, right near the Termini train station. For non-hotel guests, a day pass costs €45 for adults on weekdays, €55 on weekends (it’s half off for kids).

Another convenient, but costly, option is Aldrovandi Palace, in Rome’s posh Parioli neighborhood (just north of Villa Borghese). Use of the outdoor pool for a day sets you back €80 (again, half off for children).

Finally, remember that pools aren’t your only option when you want to take a dip! The better option, if you have 45 minutes to spare on getting there, just might be heading to the lake or beach. Stay tuned for an upcoming post on Rome’s best beaches!
